Horses ________ 'horseshoes' on their hooves. These U-shaped shoes, which are made of hard metal, are very important to the horses. If horses do not have these shoes, their hooves will wear out quickly on hard and brittle roads. Hence, horses travelling on rough roads, often tend to become .lame. In the olden days, horses did not always wear shoes. Instead, horse riders would carry the horseshoes along with them.
