NTSE - X Standard

NTSE - X Standard- Overview

National Talent Search Exam or National Science Talent Search Scheme ( NTSE ) was launched in 1963 by NCERT with an aim to identifying the talented students and grant them with scholarship to pursue their further education. The NTSE exam is a two - tier / stage exam where candidates are tested for their Mental, Language and Scholastic abilities. The stage 1 exam of NTSE is conducted by the respective state or UT only and the stage 2 exam is conducted by National Council of Educational Research and Training. Every year about 50 Lakh candidates apply for this program and roughly 1000 candidates are awarded this scholarship.  Only Class X students are eligible to appear for NTSE.

NTSE - X Standard-Eligibility Criteria

For a candidate to be eligible to take NTSE 2018, he must fulfil the following criteria.

  • Candidate must be an Indian.
  • Candidate should be less than 18 years of age as on July 1, 2017.
  • Candidate must be studying in class 10 in a recognised school in India.
  • Candidate must secure at least 75% in class 9.

Students registered under Open Distance Learning ( ODL ) are also eligible for NTSE, given that they are under 18 years of age, are not employed and are appearing for class 10 examination for the first time.

For a candidate to be eligible to take NTSE 2018, he must fulfil the following criteria. Candidate must be an Indian. Candidate should be less than 18 years of age as on July 1, 2017. Candidate must be studying in class 10 in a recognised school in India.

NTSE - X Standard-Application Form

The candidates can only apply through the school/institute which they are attending. The Head Master of the school can download the application form from the link http://ncert.nic.in. The application forms are then to be submitted to the candidates, which they need to fill neatly. When done filling the details, the candidates are to submit it back at the school and pay Rs. 50 as registration fee.

NTSE - X Standard-Admit Card

You can download NTSE Admit Card from the respective website of state authority. The hall ticket will also be sent via post by the chief superintendent of the state. The last date to download it is November 1, 2017

  • Successfully registered candidates will appear for NTSE 2018 on November 4 & 5, 2017. It will be conducted at State / UT level by the concerned State / UT authorities.
  • Cross-check all the information available on the admit card of NTSE 2018 once you download it.
  • In case of discrepancy in NTSE Hall Ticket, you must contact the office of chief superintendent immediately. Check  List of Laison Officers
  • NTSE will declare NTSE 2018 Result in January. Qualifying candidates will appear for NTSE Stage 2 on May 13, 2018 at a national level.
  • NTSE Admit Card 2018 for stage 2 will release in April.

NTSE - X Standard-Scholarship Details

About one thousand scholarships are awarded for different stages of education as follows:

(a) Scholarship of Rs. 1250/- per month for Class-XI to XII.
(b) Scholarship of Rs. 2000/- per month for Undergraduates and post - graduates.
(c) Amount of Scholarship for Ph.D. is fixed in accordance with the UGC norms.

Eligibility for Scholarship:

 If a candidate is selected, the scholarship shall be paid for pursuing studies in India only.
